Natural gas has emerged as a potential alternative to gasoline due to the increase in global energy demand, environmental
concerns, and to its relatively low price. Highly porous carbonaceous materials are excellent adsorbents for
natural gas and thus play an important role in the technology of adsorbed natural gas storage. This paper reviews various
recent patents related to methane storage, particularly carbon adsorbent preparations for methane storage.
