Abstract

An efficient and one-pot method for the preparation of 3,4-dihydropyrimidin-2(1H)- ones/thiones is described. Benzyltriphenylphosphonium chloride (BTPPC) under solvent free conditions catalyzes this multi-component condensation reaction to afford the corresponding dihydropyrimidinones/thiones in good yields.
