Introduction

Bioanalytical and biosensor technologies constitute the core of detecting and sensing diverse molecules within living organisms, encompassing proteins, DNA, small molecular metabolites, and beyond. These molecules assume pivotal roles in biological processes, rendering their analysis and sensing indispensable for comprehending biological phenomena and unraveling disease mechanisms. In the current landscape of biological analysis, technologies tailored for the bioanalysis and sensing of target molecules have emerged as dual focal points, attracting significant attention both in research and industry. Advancements in new materials, process enhancements, and innovative methodologies within academic research have made substantive contributions to the field of bioanalytical and biosensors. However, it is imperative to highlight that academic research and industrial practices often maintain distinct foci, operating autonomously and resulting in constrained knowledge exchange between these spheres. The imperative to bridge this knowledge gap is widely recognized. We anticipate a forthcoming convergence of understanding regarding bioanalytical and biosensor technologies between the academic and industrial sectors. This alignment is poised to augment comprehension of biological processes and disease mechanisms, fostering industrial development, propelling sectoral advancement, and enhancing support for disease prevention and treatment. The thematic issue at hand seeks to consolidate recent progress, commendable achievements, groundbreaking discoveries, formidable challenges, and future trajectories in various bioanalytical and biosensor applications. Specifically, we encourage submissions of studies and reviews with a focus on high sensitivity, molecular recognition control, and high reproducibility.
