Introduction

Carbon dots, a class of carbon-based nanomaterials, have garnered substantial interest in various scientific and engineering fields due to their unique properties, including excellent optical properties, outstanding biocompatibility, easy preparation, good dispersity, ultrasmall size, low toxicity and environmental friendliness. This special issue of Current Analytical Chemistry aims to showcase cutting-edge research and developments in the utilization of carbon dots, highlighting their potential to revolutionize traditional approaches in biomedicine, corrosion inhibition/monitoring, and lubrication. We invite researchers, scholars, and practitioners to contribute original research articles, reviews, and case studies that explore the multifaceted applications of carbon dots, pushing the boundaries of current knowledge and technology. This issue aims to gather a collection of 12 high-quality, peer-reviewed papers, with a priority given to comprehensive reviews. All accepted papers will be published in a subscription-based format, with no article processing charges, allowing authors to disseminate their work widely without financial burden.
