Dr. Ramaswamy Murugan is Professor and Head of the Department of Physics in the School of Physical Chemical and Applied Sciences, Pondicherry University, Puducherry, India. He received his master’s degree in Physics from University of Madras in 1988 and Ph.D. from Pondicherry University, India in 1994. He has 25 years of research experience. From 1998 to 2000, he was at NTHU, Taiwan as a postdoctoral fellow and then as Guest researcher at University of Kiel, Germany during 2005-2007. He was a visiting scientist at Shizuoka University Japan (2009), University of Texas Austin USA (2011) and Nagoya University, Japan (2013). His research focuses on the design, synthesis and characterization of functional materials in particular for applications in energy storage, with an emphasis on understanding their intimate structure-property interplay. His major contribution is the invention of zirconium containing lithium garnet oxide as electrolyte for the all solid state lithium battery. He has authored more than 85 manuscripts and 3 patents. He is the founding president of Energy Science Society of India (ESSI).

She has co-authored more than 150 articles in the international journals, 14 book chapters, seven books, 38 national patents, and over 150 lectures at international conferences and symposia. Her present interest is focused on smart composite hydrogels and their applications, composite biosorbents and controlled drug delivery. She has collaborated with colleagues from Republic of Moldova, Great Britain, Poland, Turkey, Germany, and Czech Republic.

He is recipient of the Materials Research Society of India’s prestigious Medal Award for his significant contributions in Materials Science and Engineering.

Prof. Sabu Thomas is the Director of International and Interuniversity Centre for Nanoscience and Nanotechnology and professor of Polymer Science and Engineering, School of Chemical Sciences, Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, Kerala, India has more than 30 years of experience in research and is an outstanding leader with sustained international acclaims for his work. He is in the list of most productive researchers of India and has 720 research papers, 5 patents, and have co-edited 54 books with an H index of 77 and 26049 citations. He has received a number of awards including, FRSC London, MRSI medal, Nano-Tech Medal, CRSI medal, Distinguished Faculty Award, Sukumar Maithy Award, Loyalty Award in IMTCE in May 2016 and has also been conferred Honoris Causa (D.Sc) by University of South Brittany, France. He has supervised 74 Ph.D thesis and has delivered over 300 lectures as a visiting faculty and as an invited speaker.

Dr. Jianbo Yin is currently a full professor in Smart Materials Laboratory of Northwestern Polytechnical University, China. He received his Ph. D in materials physics and chemistry and B. S. in chemical engineering from Northwestern Polytechnical University. He has published over 80 peer review papers (including 25 papers in Chinese), 15 Chinese patents, two book chapters and one book. He has awarded Young Scientist in Chinese Rheology Society, Education Ministry's New Century Excellent Talents of China and Science-Technology Award for Young Scientist in Shaanxi Province. His research interests are focused on smart electrorheological fluids, magnetorheological suspensions, and active metamaterials.

Dr. Anis Biswas is currently working as a staff scientist in the Ames laboratory of the U.S Department of Energy. He completed his Ph.D degree in the area of experimental condensed matter physics from Saha Institute of Nuclear Physics, India in 2009, his degree was awarded by Jadavpur University, India. He was a post-doctoral research associate at the Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden for two years (2009-2011) and also completed another postdoctoral tenure from the University of South Florida, USA (2011-2013). Dr. Biswas's research areas include colossal magnetoresistive manganites, nanostructured materials, rare-earth intermetallics, magnetocaloric effect and magnetic refrigeration, permanent magnetic materials, and spintronics. At Ames Laboratory, he has also been actively taking part in different research projects under the Critical Material Institute (CMI) established by the U.S Department of Energy.

Prof. Su Chen is the deputy dean of College of Chemical Engineering and a full professor of State Key Laboratory of Materials-Oriented Chemical Engineering at Nanjing Tech University. His research interests include inorganic-organic/polymeric nanocomposites, functional polymers, quantum dots, photonic crystals and supercapacitors, as well as microfluidic technique, microfluidic spinning technique and frontal polymerization. His main research interests are oxide semiconductors, dielectrics, magnetelectric, topological insulators and electrocaloric materials as well as synthesis of new nanostructured functional materials. Rouholah Ashiri received his PhD degree (2017) from Isfahan University of Technology, Iran. Rouholah uses sound experiments, analytical theory and simulations aided by in-depth discussions to disclose the processing-structure-property relationships in materials. Rouholah thinks the engineering materials and components are not in their ideal state and thus their performances can be upgraded, so materials reengineering skills should be used in a good way to upgrade them. He has published more than 50 ISI (WoS) papers mostly in Q 1 categorized journals. He is member of the editorial board of four scientific journals. Rouholah has been recognized and outstanding reviewer of more than 27 international scientific journals. He has been supervisor/advisor of MSc and PhD students. Rouholah Ashiri is now an Assistant Professor in the department of Science and Engineering of Materials, Islamic Azad University (Dezful Branch; Dezful, Iran).

Dr. Sun received B. Eng and M.S. in the State Key Lab of Advanced Welding and Joining with best thesis prizes from Harbin Institute of Technology (HIT) in 2002 and 2004, respectively. In 2006, he was offered a research studentship as a Ph.D. candidate by the University of Hong Kong (HKU). During Ph.D. study period, his research activities were mainly concentrated on investigating the biocompatible and bioactive composite coatings on the surface of metallic biomaterials (Ti, Ti-6Al-4V and NiTi shape memory alloys) for stable implant/bone interfaces and their long-term clinical applications. After receiving the Ph. D degree from HKU in 2010, he joined the Institute of Microelectronics, A*STAR, Singapore, as a research scientist, and worked for miniaturized medical device(MMD) program. Since July 2018, he has been serving as a research scientist in MIT Media Lab. His research work there involves designing and developing novel piezoelectric-based sensors and actuators, mechanical energy.

He subsequently worked as a post-doctoral researcher at Tohoku University, Japan in ImPACT project (CSTI, Govt. of Japan) before joining as a JSPS postdoc researcher at the same university. Now he is working as a researcher in the department of physics, Nagoya University, Japan. His research interests are multiferroics, magnetoelectronics, magnetization dynamics and voltage controlled magnetic phenomena. He was also the chairman of Degree Program of Flat Panel Display Technology in NCTU. Prof. Chen is the recipient of Award for Junior Research Investigators of Academia Sinica 2008. His research interests include flexible solar cells, organic electronics and materials, and low-dimentional nanomaterials.

Omid Akhavan received his PhD in Physics from Sharif University of Technology (SUT) in 2003. He was immediately invited to join the Physics Department of SUT where he is currently the Elite Professor (based on the selection of the National Federation of Scientific Elites). His research interests include physics of nanomaterials, graphene and its bioapplications in stem cell-based tissue engineering, photothermal therapy of cancer, biosensing, and antibacterial nanomaterials. The first national Iranian activity on the fabrication of graphene and one of the first studies on cyto- and geno-toxicity of graphene were guided by him. He is co-author of ~150 publications with ~9000 citations.

He was appointed as a senior research scientist by Nomadics Inc. a distinguished hightechnology company in Oklahoma. Dr. Chiradeep Ghosh graduated from IIEST, Shibpur in 2010 and did Ph.D. from McGill University, Montreal, Canada. After completing his Ph.D. joined the Tata Steel. His areas of research broadly include thermomechanical controlled processes and phase transformation and related phenomenon. Till date, he has published around 39 papers in the international peer reviewed journals which include Progress in Materials Science, International Materials Review, Acta Materialia, Scripta Materialia, ISIJ International etc. He was the recipient of Leon and Suzanne Fattal Graduate Fellowships from McGill University for carrying out Ph.D. research.

Dr. Fuat Kara is an Assistant Professor at the Duzce University, Department of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering. He obtained his BSc degree from University of Dumlupınar, Kütahya in 2005 and MSc degree from University of Afyon Kocatepe, Afyonkarahisar in 2010. He received his PhD degree in Mechanical Education from University of Karabük, Karabük, Turkey in 2014. His research interests include machining-metal cutting (surface roughness, tool life, temperature, vibration, sound, turning, milling, drilling, grinding etc.), material science (mechanical properties, retained austenite, residual stress, fatigue life, wear, microstructure, phase analyses etc.), cryogenic treatment, Taguchi method, ANOVA, regression analysis, and Artificial Neural Networks.

Dr. Boughzala is a Chemist, and Crystallographer, interested in hybrids, MOF’s for optoelectronics, energy storage and conduction. I’m using mainly single crystal and powder diffraction for solving new crystal structures and QPA. The powerful spectroscopic techniques (IR, PL, Raman…) and the thermodynamic experiments (DTA, TGA, DCS…) are often unavoidable to validate and proof the structural investigation results. Discovering new smart materials endowed with original behaviour is probably the dream of every researcher team in materials science.

Dr. Suman Nandy received his M.Sc degree in Physics from University of Calcutta. He completed his PhD degree in the area of materials science and nanotechnology from the Jadavpur University. During PhD, he came across a vast technical knowledge pertaining to thin film materials synthesis and characterizations. From the year 2010-2011, he was working in the experimental condensed matter group at the Institute of Physics (India) as a postdoctoral fellow. Currently, he is working with CENIMAT-i3N research group in Portugal. He is motivated to explore the new electrical phenomena in organic electronics related to memory.

Dr. Wenwu Li is a full professor since 2014 in Department of Electronic Engineering, East China Normal University, Shanghai, China. He received his Ph.D from East China Normal University. Then he worked as a research associate at National Institute for Materials Science, Japan and China Southern Power Grid Corporation. His major research direction is microelectronic device physics and optical properties of semiconductor materials such as organic, twodimensional, and metal oxide materials. He has authored or co-authored more than 40 peerreviewed articles, which were published on the journal Advanced Materials, ACS Nano, IEEE Electron Device Letters, etc and 7 patents.
