Introduction

This proposed special issue aims to explore the transformative potential of emerging materials processing techniques in the context of Industry 4.0, focusing on the opportunities they present for enhancing manufacturing processes. As Industry 4.0 continues to revolutionize the global manufacturing landscape, the integration of cutting-edge materials processing technologies becomes paramount for achieving improved efficiency, sustainability, and product innovation. This aims to foster a deeper understanding of the role of emerging materials processing in advancing Industry 4.0, providing a platform for researchers, engineers, and industry experts to share knowledge and insights. The outcomes will contribute to the development of sustainable, efficient, and innovative manufacturing practices for the future. The scope of the special issue will encompass a broad spectrum of emerging materials processing methods, including but not limited to additive manufacturing, surface engineering, biomaterials, nanotechnology, smart materials, and advanced composites. Contributions are invited to address the challenges and opportunities associated with the adoption of these technologies in diverse manufacturing sectors, such as aerospace, automotive, electronics, healthcare, Digital Twin Technology (development and optimization of digital twin models for manufacturing process), Internet of Things (IoT) in manufacturing (integration of IoT devices for data collection and monitoring in manufacturing), Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) which includes the AI-driven optimization for the production process and ML algorithms for predictive maintenance and quality control, Robotics and Automation (collaborating robotics for human-robot interaction in manufacturing environments), Authors are encouraged to submit original research articles, reviews, and case studies that shed light on the advancements, opportunities, and challenges associated with emerging materials processing in the context of Industry 4.0. Submissions will undergo a rigorous peer-review process to ensure the high quality and relevance of accepted manuscripts. Possible topics within this scope include but are not limited to: • Additive manufacturing technologies for smart materials processing • Additive manufacturing for on-demand and customized production. • Nanomaterials and their impact on precision manufacturing processes. • Smart materials for adaptive and self-monitoring manufacturing systems. • Sustainable manufacturing through the use of eco-friendly materials. • Integration of emerging materials processing in cyber-physical systems.
